Dear Airport Parents,
As we enter March I wanted to first thank you for all of your support and flexibility as we have worked together to make sure Airport Schools could provide the best education possible for our students throughout this pandemic situation. Our teachers, principals, support staff and families have done such a wonderful job doing their part to provide a safe and sound learning environment for our students.
I also want to make sure you are aware of a couple important schedule changes. As you hopefully already know, we changed the half day originally scheduled for Friday this week to Thursday, March 4th. This change was made to accommodate over 50 staff members that will be receiving their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. We have worked extensively with the Monroe County Health Department to make this opportunity happen. This is an important step in ending this pandemic and keeping our school as safe as possible. Many more of our staff members have already received the vaccine on their own. These same employees will be scheduled to receive their second dose of vaccine on Thursday, April 1st. We cannot accommodate having over 50 staff members out of school on that day and based on the fact we have not used all of our emergency weather days, we will not have school on Thursday, April 1st. Spring Break will start a day early. (This is not an April Fools' Joke)
Again I thank all of you for your support and commend all staff members at Airport Schools. This is a great school district and we will continue to provide the very best for all students. Go Jets!
John Krimmel, Superintendent
